Worthington Direct’s sales team was thrilled to work with Washington Jesuit Academy (WJA) in Washington, D.C., to furnish their brand-new makerspace. As a tuition-free Catholic school serving fourth through eighth grade boys from underserved communities, WJA provides a nurturing, comprehensive education that empowers students to grow into leaders who make a difference.
The new makerspace reflects WJA’s commitment to hands-on learning that prepares students for a world of innovation.
Earlier this month, the school hosted its first Family STEAM Night, inviting students and their families to explore the makerspace through creative, collaborative activities.
Families worked side by side on projects that sparked curiosity and built teamwork, while students proudly demonstrated the tools, materials, and their new tables and stools. The generous work surfaces let everyone spread out, share ideas, and tackle projects together.
Makerspaces are designed to nurture creativity, problem-solving, and a love of learning.
With the right furniture, WJA brought their vision to life—creating a flexible environment for activities ranging from woodworking and 3D printing to coding and art. The layout encourages movement, collaboration, and spontaneous innovation.
We’re always excited when our customers share photos of their new spaces. Watching a product’s journey from order to classroom setup—and finally to students actively learning and creating—is always inspiring.
Each setup tells a story of transformation, reflecting a vision that sparks creativity, collaboration, and curiosity at every turn.
“The timing could not have worked out better to have the furniture all set up for this event! The pieces look great, and they’ve already helped us create a more adaptable and efficient learning space. Thank you again for arranging everything for us—we’re so grateful.”
— Catherine McCafferty, Foundation and Corporate Relations Director, WJA
We’re honored to play a small part in helping WJA realize their makerspace. Every project built here will represent the school’s mission of inspiring curiosity and leadership.
If your school has recently updated a classroom or makerspace with furniture from us, we’d love to see it. Share your photos so we can celebrate your students and showcase how thoughtful design enhances learning.
