Cascade Air by Smith System is a high-performance air purifier that circulates HEPA filtered air to drastically reduce the respreading of indoor airborne contaminants. Inside is a SAM® MicroSound GS air purifier by Clean Rooms International™, experts in commercial air-handling equipment for education, healthcare and other sensitive spaces. In an 800 sq foot room with an 8-foot ceiling,
Cascade Air produces 6 air changes per hour! Cascade Air qualifies for government funds (CARES Act, ESSER Fund and GEER Fund) earmarked to improve air quality and maintain school operations during and after the pandemic.
Cascade® Air uses a two-step air filtration process. Room air flows through an HVAC pre-filter in front and a certified HEPA filter in back with zero bypass. Together, they collect particles .3 microns and smaller including respiratory droplets, with 99.99% efficiency. With sound decibels only reaching up to 67.7, educators can teach uninterrupted whether the unit is set to low or high. These commercial quality air purifiers are usually found in cleanroom ceilings and run 24/7, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and usually last 7-10 years! Schools should plan on changing the prefilter on a monthly basis initially
and the HEPA every 18-24 mos. Merv 8, 20" x 21" x 1” pre-filters can be
found at most home improvement stores and Gel Sealed HEPA
replacement filters (model 302201) can be purchased through Clean Rooms. If the prefilter
is maintained, the life of the HEPA can be extended significantly. Filters
should be replaced when it exhibits noticeable dust and dirt buildup, giving it a distinct gray color.
The casing is Smith System's Cascade® mid-cabinet storage unit which blends seamlessly into any commercial setting. Lockable casters make it easy to reposition units throughout schools or where needed most. Front door panels allow quick access to change the front prefilter monthly.
