School libraries are made for stories, discovery, conversation, creativity and, every now and then, the occasional crayon mark.
At Plymouth Elementary School, part of Colonial ISD in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, School Librarian Tracy B. worked with Worthington Direct Sales Representative Sharon to bring a fresh burst of color to the library with coordinating tables and chairs from Mahar.
Tracy selected Clover Activity Tables by Mahar with colorful edgebanding and paired them with Creative Colors Stack Chairs in a variety of coordinating colors.
Together, the colorful tables and chairs bring personality to the space while giving students inviting places to read, discuss books, work together and explore everything the library has to offer.
Color That Brings the Library Together
The clover-shaped tables add visual interest without sacrificing the durable work surfaces students need for everyday library activities. Choosing different edgebanding colors allowed Tracy to carry color throughout the room while keeping the tables coordinated.
The shape also creates natural gathering spaces where students can sit together to read, discuss a favorite book, work on an activity or collaborate with classmates.
Paired with colorful seating, the tables help make the library feel energetic and student-friendly while still providing practical furniture designed for everyday school use.
Coordinating Chairs Add Even More Personality
Tracy paired the tables with Creative Colors Stack Chairs by Mahar in a mix of bright colors.
The colorful chair shells coordinate with the table edgebanding and help define gathering areas throughout the library. Red, yellow, green, blue, purple and other shades give students plenty of color without making the room feel overly coordinated or formal.
The result is a library that feels ready for reading, conversation and discovery while still using sturdy furniture built for the realities of an active elementary school.
A Full School Year of Colorful Library Use
After the tables and chairs had been used throughout the 2025–26 school year, Sharon checked in with Tracy to see how she was liking the furniture.
Tracy responded with a photo of the library after everything had been cleaned up for summer and shared:
“This is a picture after everything was cleaned up for the summer. LOVE the furniture and chairs and it looks so awesome in my space.”
Feedback like that is especially meaningful after the furniture has already experienced a full school year of students reading, gathering, creating and learning around it.
