Columbia Manufacturing: Over a Century of Excellence in Student-Centric Furniture
Since 1877, Columbia Manufacturing, Inc. has been dedicated to creating top-notch furniture that enhances the student learning experience. Constantly striving to improve processes and products, Columbia incorporates concepts such as inclusivity, mobility, agility, and collaboration into their student-centric ethos. Understanding that innovation is nothing without quality, Columbia places quality at the heart of everything they do.
Columbia's award-winning, cutting-edge plating line is the industry's only 100% closed-loop operation. They use a thorough multi-step cleaning and etching method before applying a nickel-chrome plating coating to the exterior, ensuring durability and longevity.
The facility sits on 36 acres and still has the original factory as its core. Over the years, it has expanded to approximately 500,000 square feet of usable manufacturing space. The factory is equipped with the latest technology, including a zero discharge nickel/chrome plating facility, which has won numerous environmental awards for its recycling abilities and extreme reduction of water usage. Computer-assisted designs are utilized when developing or improving furniture products, taking into account the latest ergonomic and anthropometric studies to assure that Columbia's furniture is not only well-made but allows students to function comfortably and safely.
Columbia is known in the furniture industry as a leader in product innovation and unmatched quality. Not only do they provide the best chroming in the industry, but they have also introduced the Spec Flek® advantage, offering a variety of color choices with a durable paint finish that provides years of service.
The final ingredient that combines over 125 years of experience and advanced technology to produce America's Finest School Furniture is its employees. Columbia employees are a dedicated, talented, and diversified group of individuals who work together as a team. Columbia's employment has a long and distinguished history in Westfield, and the company prides itself on the local residents who have contributed to its success over the years.
With this in mind, Columbia has published its company Mission & Vision Statements that embody and express who they are as a company and how they accomplish their goals throughout the year.
